In December, I suffered a miscarriage. I wanted to give my body time to do what it does naturally, HEAL (without MANipulation)! Here I highlighted my go to methods for scrubbing my personal energy.

Keep in mind these methods were in addition to having a wonderful support mate, who reminded me (after an emotional breakdown) that “we know how to make babies” and that “we have been doing so since the beginning of time (we just a little bit older now)!” Shout out to bey for picking me back up!

Now that my body is almost back to normal, I feel comfortable going in and cleaning things up on my own. Back to Yoni Steams!

I originally started steaming to help cope with my PCOS. And did it help! Yes! My periods went from lasting forever (weeks to months) to lasting only 4 days, not nearly as heavy, and half as painful! So, of course you want the tea….

What is a Yoni Steam?

 Yoni streams are an ancient natural technique used by women to treat and cleanse their vagina/womb.

What are the benefits of a Yoni Steam?

Vaginal steams are almost a sure fix to whatever you have going on in mamas garden! The list of treatments and usages include but are not limited to:

  • PCOS & PMS Symptoms
  • Irregular & heavy bleeding
  • Menopause
  • Infections (Yeast & Bacterial)
  • Miscarriage support
  • Fibroid shrinkage
  • Blocked tubes
  • Dryness…..etc

 

What do I need and How do I do it?

Grabs some herbs from your local mart. (You can use dried herbs or garden-fresh herbs)

Water

A Pot

A Towel

A Blanket

A Book

A Glass Bowl or something to sit on or squat over

Something comfortable to wear (preferably a dress, night gown, or MUMU!)

The best part is whatever herbs you pick up will have a medicinal purpose!

Herbs. What you are trying to achieve determines what herbs you use. Some of my favorite herbs for vaginal steams are:

Rosemary (improves circulation)

Lavender (relax & enjoy the scent of this antiseptic)

Oregano (induces your cycle by cleansing the uterus)

Basil (stimulates your uterus, and helps ease painful periods)

Marigold (cleanses & heals scarred tissues)

Raspberry leaf (relaxes your uterus while supporting and toning feminine muscles)

DO NOT STEAM IF YOU ARE BLEEDING, PREGNANT, HAVE AN INFECTION, OR HAVE AN IUD.

The Process

Submerge your herbs in lukewarm water and bring to a boil. (Add what you feel necessary at the time)

Meditate & Set Intentions – Center yourself. Relax. Think positive thoughts. Say a Healing Prayer

***As your herbs are boiling (making essential oils), change into something comfy; prepare your sacred space (the bathroom for me – LOL)

Make sure your space has space for your towel and a bottle or two of water. Head back to the kitchen!

Transfer. Pour the mixture into the bowl or container. CAUTION: IT IS HOT! Grab some mitts. Carefully carry the bowl or container to your sacred space.

***I use my bathroom! Place the glass bowl into the toilet so that you can sit in a comfortable position over the pot, allowing it full access to my lady parts. If you do this make sure to place the seat over the bowl and a towel under your bottom. It IS HOT!

Cooling. Give the mixture some time to cool down, as rushing to sit over it, WILL burn you! STEAM CAN and WILL BURN YOU!

Ready, Sit, Wait. When you are ready, sit over the steam for roughly 20 minutes. Yes you have to WAIT! One of the things we can agree that most people hate doing, yet at the same time we know that it is the best things, we have to wait for.

***Make sure to place the blanket over your legs. This traps the steam in and will keep you warm once your pores open up.

Continue. With your positive thoughts, read a book, or listen to some soulful music.

Hydrate– Drink water!

Dispose of everything and clean up when done.

What to do Next.

Rest! Kick back, prop your feet up! Lounge around watching your favorite series! Read a book! Whatever! The idea is to not jump up from one of the most relaxing and needed experiences of your life and instantly go back to existing in time versus existing with time! There is nothing wrong with enjoying YOU!

    This is the first I have veer heard of a yoni steam- very informative and insightful post!!! Will definitely be sharing- I know a lot of ladies who have given up hope with medicine- this could be useful!
